Why do I love robots? I have three robot series that were inspired by a show at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry in 2007 of a collection of Japanese toy robots from the 40s and 50s. At the time of the show, I took hundreds of reference photos that have since inspired oil paintings, etchings and woodblock prints, and now 3D felt and multi-medium robots.
FELTBOTS - each robot made of felt and beads is inspired by a classic toy robot. Come see them at the One of a Kind Show in Chicago in December.
OIL ROBOT PAINTINGS - this collection is the first collection I created inspired by classic robot toys.
